Sherrin Launches the 2024 Gather Round Game Ball

Sherrin is thrilled to launch its 2024 AFL Gather Round game balls, with the week-long festival of footy about to hit the streets of Adelaide.

Created to represent the essence of Gather Round – fun, festival, kids and colour – the specially designed ball pays homage to South Australia’s main attractions and features travel-inspired stamps of where Gather Round will bounce into action.

Produced by hand at Sherrin’s factory in Keysborough, Victoria, the balls took over 100 hours to make across the production, printing, stitching and assembly process.

Two game balls were created in the traditional red and yellow. Nine colours were used to print each ball with a total of 231 metres of lace used across the 467 game balls created to commemorate the round.

Footy fans heading to Adelaide are encouraged to check out the 2024 Gather Round ball design in life size, with a giant game ball Sherrin landing in Rundle Mall throughout the round.

Port Adelaide 350 gamer, Travis Boak reached new heights at Adelaide Oval to launch the ball and was joined by fan favourite mascots – TW and Syd Sherrin.

“After playing my 350th game on the weekend, I am starting to feel like a true South Australian! It is such a special occasion to have Gather Round in our backyard and on our home turf,” Boak said.

“If last year is anything to go off, it’s so powerful to see the city come alive and fill up with footy fans from across the nation.

“This year, the Gather Round ball is getting around that SA spirit and celebrating all the iconic places across the state where the AFL games will be played – I can’t wait to get out and give the ball a red-hot crack against the Bombers!”

Sherrin Marketing Director, Naomi Maclean said she is looking forward to returning to Adelaide for Gather Round after such a successful start in 2023.

“Sherrin is thrilled to once again play a part in bringing the unique offering of the round to life. We can’t wait to see the balls spring into action across Gather Round and be front and centre of all the big moments,” Maclean said.

“After such a successful start to Gather Round history in 2023, we’re looking forward to touching down and getting amongst the energy and vibe that is set to take over South Australia.”

There will be a limited number of game balls available on sherrin.com.au, alongside a take-down range of replicas, for those who want to get their hands on a unique Sherrin.
