ANZAC Appeal Round 2024 Preview

ANZAC day is a day of remembrance for all who have served and sacrificed their lives in conflicts for their country. The AFL have been a long-time partner of the ANZAC Appeal, and Sherrin is proud to once again introduce a ANZAC Range that will be used across the whole round.

The round starts with ANZAC Eve, where Richmond will host Melbourne at the ‘G for their 9th ANZAC Eve match up. Richmond is currently sitting at 16th whereas Melbourne are 7th, both teams coming off a bye. Richmond will be determined to turn their form around after a shock loss to the Eagles, whilst Melbourne will be ruing a loss against the Lions at home before the bye.

Not only is the 25th of April marked in most calendars for ANZAC day but for the AFL fans it is marked as the biggest blockbuster of the home and away season. Collingwood and Essendon have been the main event of the ANZAC fixture since 1995, that is 28 years of games worthy of the date they play on. The two teams will battle it out at the ‘G at 3:20pm AEST, Collingwood have 17 wins out of the total 28 games been played, Essendon have 10 and there has only ever been 1 draw.

Like last year GWS Giants and Brisbane Lions will face off at Manuka Oval at 7:30pm AEST on ANZAC Day, and although both teams are coming off a loss with GWS 3rd and the Lions 12th.  Jesse Hogan has been cleared to play, after originally getting suspended for a game, but the Giants will be without their captain Toby Greene, against a Lions team desperate to turn their season around.

The rest of the rounds see plenty of tough games that is sure to emulate everything that ANZAC stands for. The Cats host the Blues in a potential Grand Final match-up at the MCG, The Suns welcome the flying Eagles in a bid to continue their home dominance, and the Hawks and Swans come together to thank and celebrate the great Lance Buddy Franklin.
