Local League Hero Pocket Profiles
We missed local footy so much in 2020. And yet again some leagues have unfortunately had another short hiatus in Victoria. In the meantime, we thought we’d throw a spotlight on some of the local heroes and players at community level.
Local League Hero:
Name: Tim Jenkins
Nickname: Timmy, Freak, Mole, Germ
Club: St. Albans (Western Region Football League)
What do you love most about your local club? It has been a big part of my life since I was five years old and many of my closest friendships have been formed by playing at St. Albans. The people involved at the club make it a great place to be.
Describe yourself as a player: A midfielder who tries to get forward and kick goals.
Greatest footy moment: A premiership is always the pinnacle when playing football, so I would have to say winning the 2008 VFL Reserves premiership at Williamstown.
Which AFL club do you support: Carlton
Favourite AFL & AFLW player: My favourite all time AFL player is Chris Judd & Brianna Davey has been great to watch in 2021.
My coach always says …. “That’s elite!”
My life motto is … I don’t really have one!
Hidden talent: It’s not really hidden but I’m great at nutmegging people.

How many Sherrins do you own? I own three, and recently got an official AFL game day Sherrin, which is pretty good.
What’s in your footy bag? Just the normal football things, but I always make sure I have a bag of lollies in there as well.

Name: Cass Cain
Nickname: CC
Club: Eastern Devils (South Eastern League)
What do you love most about your local club? The professional and serious vibe, yet a big community feeling with no judgement or expectations from coaching staff and fellow players
Describe yourself as a player: Agile, speedy and impactful.
Greatest footy moment: I won the ball in defence, and ran off half-back, fending off an opponent on the way. I then took the ball down the wing, and finished things off with a goal from the forward flank!
Which AFL club do you support: Hawthorn
Favourite AFL & AFLW player: Luke Hodge and Erin Phillips
My coach always says …. “First to the ball always wins.”
My life motto is … Go with the flow.

How many Sherrins do you own? One if you count the one I accidentally took home from training one night and never returned it because I was too embarrassed…
What’s in your footy bag? My footy boots, runners, socks, guernsey, mouth guard, roller, Deep Heat and snacks of course!

Name:Uma Dumais
Nickname: Uma Zoomer
Club: Heathmont Jets (Eastern Football Netball League)
What do you love most about your local club? Playing with friends.
Describe yourself as a player: I am a gun!
Greatest footy moment: When I kicked the ball really high and took off after it. I ran so fast that I was the one that marked it! I looked at the umpire, because I didn’t know if I was allowed to and he just blew the whistle and paid the mark, whilst shaking his head.
Which AFL club do you support: Bombers
Favourite AFL & AFLW player: Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti
My coach always says …. “See ball, get ball.”
My life motto is … I’m Uma Dumais, get outta my way!
Hidden talent: Always encouraging my teammates – on and off the field and making sure everyone is okay.

Nickname: Jessjack
Club: The Basin Bears (Eastern Football Netball League)
What do you love most about your local club? Everyone knows everyone – we are one big club.
Describe yourself as a player: Always on the go.
Greatest footy moment: Kicking a goal from the boundary across the goals.
Which AFL club do you support: Bombers
Favourite AFL & AFLW player: Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti and Dustin Martin

Describe yourself as a player: Short, fast and a strong tackler.
Greatest footy moment: Winning the U12’s B Grade Grand Final in 2019
