What Size Sherrin Should I Use?
If you want to play your best footy you need the correct sized ball to match your age. Having a football that is too small or too big for your grip can impact your game, and it’s important to feel in control of the ball to be able to kick, handball and mark well.
To enhance your skills and give you the best chance at achieving your football goals, take some time to understand what size ball you need. There are many sizes available, so to help you choose, we have compiled a sizing chart for each of our footballs.
Size 5 – Official AFL Game Ball
- Size 5 is the official ball size of the AFL and is used in all games.
- Suitable for male players aged 15 years and up
- Circumference – Long: 72.5cm, Short: 55cm
Size 4 – Official AFLW Game Balls
- Size 4 is the official ball size of the AFLW and is used in all matches
- Suitable size for female players aged 14 years and up
- Circumference – Long: 69cm, Short: 53cm
Size 4 – For Males Aged 14 to 15 Years
- Size 4 is also the standard football size for male players aged 14 – 15 years old
- Circumference – Long: 69cm, Short: 53cm
Size 3 – For Males and Females Aged 12 to 13 Years
- Size 3 is the standard football size both male and female players aged 12 – 13 years old
- Circumference – Long: 65cm, Short: 49cm
Size 2 – For Males and Females Aged 9 to 11 Years
- Size 2 is the standard football size for both male and female players aged 9 – 11 years old
- Circumference – Long: 63cm, Short: 43cm
Size 1 – For Males and Females Aged 5 to 8 Years
- Size 1 is the standard size football for male and female players aged 5 – 8 years old
- Auskick size
- Circumference – Long: 62cm, Short: 45cm
Infant – For Infants and Youths
- Infant size is the standard size football for infants and youths
- The age bracket is open
- Circumference – Long: 68cm, Short: 50cm
