MEET OUR NEWEST AMBASSADOR
Sherrin Australia is thrilled to announce its newest ambassador, up-and-coming AFL star, Matt Rowell.
Matt is a 19-year-old Australian Rules footballer, who was selected at number 1 in the 2019 AFL draft and currently plays for the Gold Coast Suns. Matt took the AFL world by storm in his first few matches in his debut 2020 season, however, after dislocating his shoulder in round 5, was unfortunately forced out for the rest of the year. He was rewarded for his blistering start to the season, racking up a Rising Star nomination in just his second game at the elite level.
His love of football, and specifically Sherrin, began at a young age, and Matt has been collecting Sherrin footballs ever since he was gifted one as a kid at Christmas, by his parents. The collection has now grown to over 50 footballs and still continues to grow. Matt is excited for the new partnership, “I have collected Sherrin footballs my whole life and I am excited to join and be part of the Sherrin family. I’m delighted to partner with a brand like Sherrin, that is authentic to my values.”
Matt moved to Melbourne from New South Wales when he was young and began playing football at Auskick. He played most of his junior years with the Canterbury Cobras and was declared a future AFL star when he was only 10 years old. Just after his 16th birthday, he was given the opportunity to play in the TAC Cup for the Oakleigh Chargers and dominated a few years later for Vic Metro at the AFL under 18 National Champs.
The team at Sherrin are just as excited. “We are thrilled to welcome Matt as our new Sherrin ambassador. Like us, he shares the same passion for footy. His very own collection of Sherrin Footballs is testament to a genuine, authentic partnership. As a future superstar of the game, we are looking forward to growing our partnership together with Matt,” says Marketing Director for Sherrin, Naomi Maclean.
In addition to his partnership with Sherrin, Matt is also the new face of Sherrin apparel, which is managed by TLA Team Wear. The apparel range features Sherrin-branded on-field and training merchandise, which is crafted and designed specifically for local footy clubs.
Matt is already proving to be a much-loved character of the game and Sherrin are looking forward to having Matt as part of the team and can’t wait to see him back out on the field in 2021!
